Updated: Apr 13, 2020
Dear Friend and Supporter, In addition to chairing the Senate Finance Committee, which vets all House and Senate Bills regarding banking, insurance, energy and utilities, health policy, senior issues, child welfare, and the Port of Baltimore, I was the lead sponsor of over 20 Senate Bills, nine of which passed both houses before the three-week early end of the 2020 Session of the Maryland General Assembly.
The following is the list of my 2020 Bills which passed in both the House and the Senate, and which are now awaiting the signature or veto of the Governor:
SB 164-Home Builder Guaranty Fund-Award Limitations
SB 165-Insurance-Industry Automobile Insurance Association-Board of Directors
SB 166-Drugs and Devices-Electronic Prescriptions-Controlled Dangerous Substances
SB 167-Insurance-Credit for Reinsurance Model Law-Revisions
SB 186-Life and Health Guarantee Corporation Act-Revisions
SB 444-State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators-Board Membership
SB 632-Health Facilities-Hospitals-Disclosure of Outpatient Facility Fees (Facility Right to Know Act)
SB 676-Public Service Commission-Public Utility Regulation Fund Cap
SB 774-Health Services Cost Review Commission-Community Benefits Reporting
Several of the Bills for which I served as Senate Floor Leader were a part of the package of emergency Bills which addressed Maryland’s response to the Coronavirus epidemic and/or which detailed specific emergency powers granted by the General Assembly to the Governor.
